SWILLAM教授于2009 年在加拿大麦克马斯特大学获得电气与计算机工程博士学位,现任开罗美国大学理学院物理系教授兼系主任,曾担任该校纳米技术项目主任,并在美国 ASML 公司担任光学传感与计量方向的首席光学研究工程师,先后在耶鲁大学、纽约州立大学布法罗分校、多伦多大学等高校担任访问教授。Swillam 教授的研究主要集中于光子与纳米光子器件的设计、建模、制备与表征,重点应用于光学传感、硅光子学、等离子体纳米天线、新型太阳能电池、光学计量以及微波和太赫兹成像等领域;迄今为止,他在国际权威期刊和学术会议上发表论文 400 余篇,并拥有多项相关发明专利,其科研成果多次获得重要奖项,包括埃及国家先进技术奖、开罗美国大学科研与创新卓越奖等,并连续入选斯坦福大学发布的光子学与光电子学领域全球前 2% 高被引科学家榜单。同时,他在Journal of Optics(IoP)等多份期刊担任编委,曾任《Journal of Nanophotonics》《Frontiers in Physics》《Frontiers in Photonics》《Advanced Electromagnetics》等期刊的副主编或客座编辑,多次在国际重要学术会议上担任专题主席和组织者。
English Bio:
Prof. Mohamed A. Swillam received his PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from McMaster University, Canada, in 2009, and is currently Professor and Chair of the Department of Physics at the School of Sciences and Engineering, The American University in Cairo, where he previously served as Director of the Nanotechnology Program; he has also worked as Principal Optical Research Engineer in optical sensing and metrology at ASML (USA) and held visiting appointments at Yale University, the University at Buffalo (SUNY) and the University of Toronto. His research focuses on the design, modeling, fabrication and characterization of photonic and nanophotonic devices, with applications in optical sensing, silicon photonics, plasmonic nanoantennas, advanced solar cells, optical metrology, and microwave and terahertz imaging. Prof. Swillam has authored over 400 papers in leading journals and international conferences and is an inventor on multiple related patents; his contributions have been recognized by major awards such as the Egyptian State Award in Advanced Technology and the AUC Excellence in Research and Creative Endeavors Award, and he has been repeatedly listed in Stanford’s global top 2% most-cited scientists ranking in photonics and optoelectronics. He serves on the editorial board of Journal of Optics (IoP) and several other international journals, and has acted as Associate or Guest Editor for outlets including Journal of Nanophotonics, Frontiers in Physics, Frontiers in Photonics and Advanced Electromagnetics, while frequently chairing and organizing symposia at major international conferences.
