报告摘要:The fifth-generation (5G) mobile networks are expected to support machine-type communication services in addition to the enhanced mobile broadband applications. Different from mobile broadband services using long data packets, the traffics originated by autonomous machines are normally in short packet format. Moreover, there are some emerging applications that require short packets to carry mission critical information expected to be delivered with ultralow latency and ultrahigh reliability. In this talk, I will first introduce several emerging applications of ultra-reliable short-packet communications as well as their specific performance requirements. The fundamental theoretical principle that guides how to transmit short packets efficiently will then be elaborated. Finally, I will present our recent work on applying the theoretical principle in designing the optimal duplex mode for short-packet relay networks and the resource sharing for multi-user MIMO systems using short packets.
