The certificate for Excellent Achievement Prize in Scientific Research (Science and Technology) of Institutions of Higher Learning has been issued by Education Ministry recently. One of our school’s research achievements “Theoretical and Experimental Study of Solid Raman Laser and Related Key Technology” won the Second Class Natural Science Award. Principal investigators of the research include Zhang XingYu, Wang Qingpu, Liu Zhaojun, Jin Guopan, Chang Jun and Li Ping.
Stimulated Raman scattering is an effective way to realize the laser frequency translation. Solid Raman medium has advantages like big particle concentration, small volume, low pump threshold value, good heat conductance performance and good mechanical performance, which have made it one of the hotspots in the research fields of optical device in recent years. One of the typical applications of solid Raman laser is to get the range of uv and near infrared Raman laser spectra can be in using combination of different laser mediums and Raman crystals, and to get the yellow laser through the frequency multiplication of stimulated Raman scattering laser in crystals. Under the support of the country, the province of Shandong and the fund of Education Ministry, the team conducted systemic research to a variety of solid Raman laser, revealed its operation rules and optimized design method and obtained important indicators such as the highest conversion efficiency of solid Raman laser and the biggest yellow power of frequency-doubled Raman laser.
