Prof. Yury Andreev visited the School of Information Science and Engineering
From July 4 to July 30, 2012, Prof. Yury Andreev visited the School of Information Science and Engineering. Prof. Yury Andreev gave many classes about "Properties and Applications of Nonlinear Crystals" and did some research.
Yury Andreev was born in Tomsk/Russia in 1946. He received the diploma degree in quantum electronics from Tomsk State University, Tomsk/Russia in 1972, PhD degree in physics and mathematics from Tomsk State University in 1988 and post doctor of science degree in 2000. In 2000 he joined the Institute of Climatic and Ecological Systems SB RAS where he is as a chief scientist on current time. Since 1972 his principle research interests have been in the field of photon counting systems, mid-IR lasers and parametric frequency converters, gas analysis lidars and force optics systems. Last decade he is enjoined in fs pulse parametric frequency conversion and THz generation/detection. His contributions have led to well over 150 contributed papers in (open) refereed journals, two monographers and 7 author certificates.
The contents of the classes include the properties of the pure GaSe crystals, the properties of the GaSe crystals doped with S, Al, and Fe, the applications of GaSe crystals in frequency conversion, the phase matching of the nonlinear crystals, the applications of GaSe crystals in THz generation, and soon. Prof. Yury Andreev also did some research about 10 micrometer wavelength infrared wave generation by DFG of the fundamental and Raman lasers in GaSe crystals.
