The institute is devoted to the teaching and scientific researching at electromagnetic field and microwave communication. The main research activities cover four areas:
1) Numerical calculations of electromagnetic field, including the numerical method in modeling and designing of microwave and optical devices, modeling and simulation of optical communication devices and systems, and parallel FDTD method in solving electromagnetic problems.
2) Optical fibers communication and sensing, such as the theory of electromagnetic wave propagation in optical fibers, the characterizations of optical communication devices, and theory and applications of optical fiber sensors.
3) Microwave electronics, including the studies of the interactions between the microwave and electrons, the numeral simulation of microwave devices.
4) Microwave measurement, such as microwave parameter's CAT, six-port measurement technology and attenuation of microwave propagation.
